Agile

The first element in the Beyond Hybrid Agile Model is agile itself. As discussed earlier, agile is the best starting point for successful project execution in complex environments. Its focus on value delivery and risk avoidance coupled with iterative and incremental development provide a robust framework that is tolerant of change and new discovery.

Its frequent reviews and adaptation allow the elements of product, performance and process to be improved throughout the lifecycle. Finally, its empowered teams and emphasis on team safety create productive, motivated teams who are more likely to be invested in the project success due to the influence they have had in its design and execution.

There are many ways to picture how agile is integral to a larger model of project delivery. The tree image above shows agile as the trunk of the tree supporting bows that represent the domains of Plan-Driven, Leadership and Emotional Intelligence, and Industry Specific knowledge.
