Escalation Process

Escalation Process – A formal process to highlight the issue at hand to a higher level of intervention, when a threat or an opportunity is outside the scope of the project or beyond the project manager’s authority. Escalation is often required on a project due to resource conflicts, scope disagreement or scope creep, deliverable issues, and/or issues among groups. Some benefits of escalation include providing a check and balance mechanism, resolving problems early, reducing frustration among team members, and encouraging employee participation and ownership.
